Aaron Judge signed a $360 million deal to stay with the New York Yankees this past off-season. It was a move that will probably keep him with the Bronx Bombers for the rest of his career. The Aaron Judge free agency saga was a nervous affair for the Yankees organization. There were continuous negotiations to get the deal done. Most recently, team owner Hal Steinbrenner revealed how the free agency interfered with his holiday in Italy. During an interview on “The Michael Kay Show”, he talked about Judge’s free agency and the Bombers’ current form, among other topics. Steinbrenner said that he was only able to enjoy the last two days of the holiday while remaining in contact with Judge to get his $360 million deal over the line.

During the podcast, Steinbrenner said, “Yeah, the last two days. We ended up somewhere at the French border, near a nice Mount Blanc, so that was good. The deal was done. I was on my way, getting the deal done, stopped at a rest area, as you will. Because I kept going through these 10-mile tunnels and kept losing him on the phone. And, now, um, the last two days were great. But look, it was a stressful time for Yankee fans, and believe me for all of us, but uh, in the end, we got the deal done.”

This was an honest look into the stress that he had to face during Judge’s free agency. But the star outfielder signed his new contract and became the team captain. Furthermore, this season, fans and experts have gotten a look at just how important he is to the Bombers’ success.

The Yankees’ results have been in tune with Judge’s form

Throughout the 2023 season, Aaron Judge has been a key part of the Yankees’ form. If he was injured or playing badly, the results usually went against the New York-based team. Right now, the Bombers are bearing the brunt of a prolonged period without their captain. During that time, the batting lineup has struggled, with results also going against them. This, and the performance that Judge has shown in 2023, is a clear indicator of his impact.
