The impact of the New York Yankees brand spreads far beyond the boundaries of the diamond, as has been proven time and time again. From television appearances to hosting comedy shows, the players who once worked under the Pinstripes’ banner were honored by many special appearance invitations over the years. One show that remains a favorite on that list is one of the greatest sitcoms that became a cult symbol for their fanbase: Seinfeld.
Played by Jerry Seinfeld as the titular character, the show that blurred the border between reality and fiction hosted many Yankees over the nine years it ran. Who were the most notable Pinstripes to appear in it?

Derek Jeter and Bernie Williams
First off in the list is none other than Derek Jeter. The MLB legend appeared on the Seinfeld season 8 along with teammate Bernie Williams. In the episode “The Abstinence,” Jeter and Williams played themselves as part of the MLB realm. How did that work out, one might wonder?

Jason Alexander played one of the show’s primary characters, Seinfeld’s best friend George Costanza, who worked in the baseball industry. The audience had the time of their lives when they saw Costanza trying to teach the elite hitters how to hit the ball better! This appearance might have been purely for comedy, but the next one had a humanitarian touch.
Paul O’Neill
The audience was not expecting to see Paul O’Neill appear in season 7 in the episode “The Wink,” when they tuned in to the show one fine afternoon in 1995. Cosmo Kramer, another primary character of the show played by Michael Richards, aided O’Neill. He asked him to hit two homers for a sick child.

Costanza sets the things in flow when Kramer sells his birthday card for George “The Boss” Steinbrenner to the child in question in a series of mistaken actions. The kid promised to return the card only if Kramer could get O’Neill to hit the homers. The next Yankees to make appearances have a slugger who came to the show twice!

Danny Tartabull and Buck Showalter
Tartabull found himself riding a car with Kramer to appear for a pledge drive on PBS in the 1994 episode “The Pledge Drive.”. Just a few days back, he made another appearance as a fellow traveler on a Yankees plane, where the primary female lead of the show, Elaine Benes (played by the beautiful Julia Louis-Dreyfus), was traveling with her coworker Mr. Lippman on the same flight. The episode in which the event took place is “The Chaperone,” which also had an appearance by Showalter.
The then-manager of the New York Yankees found himself in a bit of a pickle when a very “curious” George reflected on how the team’s jerseys needed a change in fabric. The players performed much better when Showalter followed Costanza’s advice and changed their polyester uniforms to cotton ones.
