The National League, founded in 1876, is the older league, one that likes to adhere to traditions. The American League was established in 1901 to compete against the NL. They have been taking part in the World Series Championships since 1903. The AL and NL Champions have been facing off against each other since then, with exceptions during the 1904 and 1994 seasons.

Differences between the National League and the American League lay in their approaches to the games. The NL is famous for emphasizing its pitching style, defense strategies, and overall game strategy. AL is famous for focusing on its offense strategies and its batter’s power and hitting speed.

The American League has played in 118 games until 2022, winning 67 titles. The National League contenders won 51 titles. This makes the American League the one with the most titles won in the history of MLB. But who are the teams that secured the most titles in both leagues?

The New York Yankees team secured 27 titles out of those 67 AL wins, out of their 40 selections. This makes them the club with the most titles in the American League and also in the WS Championship. At the conclusion of the 2023 season, the Dodgers hold the record for the most National League pennants won, totaling 24. When it comes to representing the National League in matchups against the American League, the Cardinals have secured the most World Series victories, claiming the title 11 times.

Two teams have tied for 2nd place for the most WS titles in the American League: the Boston Red Sox (9 out of 14) and the Oakland Athletics (9 out of 15). Two clubs here have tied for second place in the National League as well: the San Francisco Giants (7 out of 20) and the Los Angeles Dodgers (7 out of 21). Since the World Series is currently going on, let’s take a look at the present contenders in the MLB.

The Titans of the 2023 World Series

The 2023 World Series saw the rise of two underdogs: the Texas Rangers, who have not won a title yet; and the Arizona Diamondbacks, who have not had a chance to hold the trophy since 2001. Both teams have decent offense and defense lineups.

Rangers’ Corey Seager and Adolis Garcia have been giving one clutch performance after another. That, along with Nathan Eovaldi’s dominating pitching form, speaks a lot for the Rangers. One of the youngest members of the team, Corbin Carroll, along with 2B Ketel Marte’s hitting record, carries the D-Backs helm.

Game 1 was captivating as hell, to say the least. Rangers’ Nathan Eovaldi started off the game, with Corbin Carrol leading the D-Backs. Eovaldi struck out Gabriel Moreno in the first inning, shortly followed by 2023 ALCS MVP Adolis Garcia scoring an RBI single. The second inning saw Eovaldi ram through a barrage of players with three strikeouts. The D-Backs got back in shape with Carroll’s two triple RBIs in the third inning, with Ketel Marte stealing base a short while later.

The D-Backs tied the game in the third inning. It remained so until the bottom of the ninth, when the Rangers came back, razing the diamond, with Seager scoring 2-run homers. That, followed by Garcia’s walk-off homer in the 11, secured the victory for the Rangers. The game ended with the Rangers walking off with a 1-0 lead in the best-of-seven series.

Game 2 saw a turn of events, with the D-Backs opening with a slow start. Tommy Pham delivered the first hit, which was tagged as “soft” by SportingNews. Gabriel Moreno scored a homer almost an hour into the game, setting off the D-Backs to blaze on a fiery trail. This gave them a 1-0 lead over the Rangers.

Lourdes Gurriel Jr.’s RBI single took it up another notch. The fifth inning saw the Rangers extend their lead to 2-1 with Mitch Garver’s solo homer. They didn’t score anymore through the rest of the game, ending it with a 1-9 loss against the D-Backs. The game ended with the D-Backs tying the series 1-1.

Today’s Game 3 proved that the rest of the series is going to be an absolute rollercoaster. The D-Backs took the lead in the very first inning. Rangers’ Marcus Semien, Corey Seager, and Adolis Garcia were wiped out by the D-Backs’ Brandon Pfaadt in the first inning. The Rangers answered back in inning three with Semien’s clutch clinch, followed by Seager’s double homer. This gave the team a 3-0 lead over the D-Backs.

Fans’ hopes of getting to see the D-Backs in their Game 2 form were decimated by Rangers Max Scherzer’s Evan Longoria strikeout. Max walked away by the fourth inning after being troubled by a previous injury, with any chances of getting him back in his old form disappearing along with his exit. Geraldo Perdomo scored an RBI single in the bottom of the eighth, making the lead 1-3. None of the teams saw any more runs throughout the game.

The Rangers won Game 3, getting a 2-1 lead over the D-Backs in Game 4, scheduled for tomorrow. Will the D-Backs even the field again with an alternative win? Or will the Rangers keep steady and grab another lead off of the Snakes on their home ground?
