A decade is almost over, and no one in Major League Baseball’s history has ever won the Triple Crown since Miguel Cabrera in 2012. But that is now about to change, as the New York Yankees outfielder, Aaron Judge, is about to win one.

For a player to win a Triple Crown in MLB, he has to lead his respective league in three categories. Those three categories are home runs, runs batted in (RBI), and batting average. When the season ends, Judge will be becoming a Triple Crown winner if he leads AL in all these categories. The debate of who will become AL MVP this season is going on, and now, analysts have started to talk about the rare accomplishment in the Major Leagues.

Is the Triple Crown Candicacy of Aaron Judge a quiet one?

Even calling Judge’s candidacy a quiet one would be crooked. This is such a rare accomplishment for any baseball player. No one has won the award in a decade.

“A quiet? Could we ever call it a quiet triple crown candidacy? We have been talking about the MVP… He is a comfortable lead in home runs and RBI, and how about the average? .311(now .312),” MLB reporter Jon Morosi said.

With 57 home runs and 123 RBI, Judge is already leading the American League in two categories. What’s left now is only the batting average. Furthermore, Morosi added, “Wherever it is being pitched, he is hitting it.”

If Judge wins the Triple Crown, how many players would it make of the Yankees to win one?

The last Yankee to ever win a Triple Crown was Mickey ‘the Commerce Comet’ Mantle in the year 1956. Not only did he lead in his league, but in the entire Major League Baseball. After the legend, there have been only three winners of this rare feat.

If and when Judge wins the Triple Crown, he will be the third player in the history of the New York Yankees to win the title. The first was ‘The Iron Horse,’ Lou Gehrig, who also lead AL as well as MLB.
