Alex Rodriguez has never quite known how not to be famous. Ever since his MLB draft, the former baseballer has been in the spotlight for one reason or another. The same goes for Jennifer Lopez, a global phenomenon in music and acting. When these two huge names started dating in 2017, followers of pop culture were in a frenzy.

It was not quite as big as what happened with J.Lo and Ben Affleck, or Bennifer, in 2002 at the birth of tabloids. And yet, Rodriguez and Lopez were quite the famous couple. Both had tremendous responsibilities in their respective fields, but they did not want to give up on each other. How exactly did the ex-couple navigate through tough times then?

Alex Rodriguez Believed in the Power of Desire

When the singer and the former Yankees player got together, A-Rod had already retired as an athlete. But it didn’t mean he was not still actively chasing after his other dreams. Founder of A-Rod Corp and working as an MLB analyst for FOX Sports, Rodriguez had his hands full. So did Jennifer Lopez, whose influence on the music and acting industry was as strong as ever.

Their schedules were hectic and their lives busy, but they wouldn’t let anything stand in the way of being together. In an interview with E! Insider, Rodriguez discussed his life with Lopez as a romantic partner in February 2020. “I think when there’s a will, there’s a way, I think number one first and foremost she is my best friend,” the retired shortstop told the interviewer.

“We want to spend the time together and we work really really hard with our schedules to make sure that we’re being very considerate of each other.” Although Rodriguez had a previous reputation for being romantically involved with too many women, it seemed like he had found ‘the one’ in Lopez. What was more, each of their kids got along well.

Rodriguez and Lopez’s first priority was always their children

For A-Rod, fatherhood has always been the most important job in his life. Rodriguez’s dad was not the best at his job and he vowed to do better and never put his kids in an uncomfortable situation. Luckily, Natasha and Ella got along well with Max and Emme, J.Lo’s twins. In the interview with E!, he simply stated, “Everything revolves around our kids.”
