Things are about to get interesting in the Bronx yet again! Enter Cody Bellinger, the fresh new face in town after a high-profile trade with the Cubs, and he’s bringing more than just his bat to New York. Bellinger’s coming with his wife, Chase Charter, and their two kids as he joins the Yankees clubhouse. And although his little ones might not know 35-year-old Yankees outfielder Giancarlo Stanton personally, his wife definitely does.
Notably, Chase Carter has a serious history with Stanton; she and the Yankees slugger were linked together back in 2018 in a relationship for nearly two years. So, while Cody’s kids might be getting used to the big city, looks like the adults in the room might have some catching up to do. And hey, it wouldn’t be baseball without a little drama off the field, right?
The 2019 ALDS was a thrilling time for Yankees fans, but off the field, there was a different story unfolding. According to the New York Post, during Game 3, Carter was spotted sitting next to Samantha Bracksieck, who was dating Aaron Judge at the time. All seemed well until social media came into play, and a month later, whispers started circulating that Carter and Giancarlo Stanton had split. The reason? A few Instagram likes on posts of none other than Arianny Celeste, the UFC ring girl.

Fast forward to August 2020, and Carter was suddenly getting linked to the former MVP Bellinger, who was playing for the Dodgers at the time. From the Bronx to LA, Carter was keeping fans on their toes with each new headline, and on December 2023, she tied the knot with Cody Bellinger. Now, whether or not there’ll be tension in the Yankees clubhouse remains to be seen in the future, but just as with Chase, the New York Yankees have also found ‘the one’ in the Arizona native.

Cody Bellinger has a unique connection to the Yankees
The pinstripes have a guy who can step in and fill the gap Juan Soto left on the field. On Tuesday, the Yankees pulled off a trade with the Chicago Cubs, landing 2019 NL MVP Cody Bellinger. It’s a bold move, as the Yanks are betting on a comeback from Bellinger, who’s had a rocky few seasons after his MVP-caliber performance. But hey, in the Bronx, it’s all about taking risks, and they’re hoping this one might just pay off.

The Cubs are sweetening the deal by sending $5 million to the Yankees; this money will cover $2.5 million of Bellinger’s generous 2025 compensation of $27.5 million, plus a further $2.5 million for his 2026 contract or, if he chooses not to, a buyout. Talk about a creative way to get under the salary cap while snagging a potential star! Bob Nightingale of USA Today reported that the 29-year-old has been told to take over in center field, meaning Aaron Judge can be shifting over to right field.
Now, it looks like Judge will finally get to stretch his legs in a more familiar spot, while Bellinger gets a chance to show off his defensive skills. Given Bellinger’s connection to the Yankees, as his father Clay Bellinger played for the Yankees from 1999 to 2001, there’s some serious family history here. And now, Cody himself has got the chance to make his own legacy in pinstripes.
