Shohei Ohtani has been on a roll this season. Shotime’s incredible run of form consists of his 3.32 ERA all while hitting 32 home runs from the plate. And if things do not go south for the two-way phenom, the LA Angels phenom may end up winning the AL MVP once again. However, the bigger question is, once Ohtani hits his free agency, which team will he sign for?

When the sport’s most special free agent will become available on the open market, it will surely be a bidding war like no other. There is already speculation of $500-600 million contracts for Ohtani when the season ends. Amidst the All-Star Game coverage, New York Yankees legend Derek Jeter shared his thoughts on the ongoing Ohtani free agency saga.

As part of the Fox Sports crew covering the All-Star-Game, Jeter gave the viewers his opinion on the potential move. A video posted by the Flippin’ Bats Podcast on Twitter showcases Jeter, A-Rod, and David Ortiz in conversation with Kevin Burkhardt. On being asked what the Yankee icon thinks about the ongoing Shohei saga, Jeter explained that he does understand the why behind the move.

However, he can’t grasp how the Angels will actually execute the play and emphasized that it will be quite difficult to make a decision. Jeter also claimed that Ohtani is one of the best overall talents the sport of baseball has ever witnessed.

Mr. November also added, “And if you do move Ohtani what’s that telling Mike Trout,” referring to the currently injured center fielder. However, Jeter maintained that if the Angels’ organization ends up moving Ohtani, they will not get it wrong. Jeter said that the next few weeks will be crucial and will eventually reveal more things regarding the potential move.

According to Jeter, this move must be weighing on the team’s owner since no owner would want to be known as the guy who traded Ohtani. Amidst all the rumors, Shotime remains on track to complete a spectacular MLB season.
