The San Francisco Giants are in dire need of their own brand of superstar, and it shows. The team has neither seen the face of a World Series title nor a pennant in the last nine seasons. The least they could do for their own sake right now is to put their money where their mouth is. And that is exactly what a couple of MLB insiders believe to be the right move for the SF Giants.

According to their theory, if they can put all their money into the world’s best baseball player, Shohei Ohtani, that will change the entire team’s dynamic for the upcoming seasons. Does that claim hold any semblance of truth, or is it just another pipe dream?

The two-way superstar, Shohei Ohtani is reportedly holding closed-door meetings with the prospective pick of teams of his choice. If the Giants choose to approach the Japanese two-way miracle amidst a long list of wealthy and powerful contenders, it will make them emerge as the Dark Horse of the race—and for good reasons.

The Giants have had the very bad luck of missing out on major prospects during the drafting seasons of the MLB for the last few years. In a recent Twitter discussion posted by Foul Territory TV, MLB insider Russell Dorsey was seen stating that they should make a similar move as they did with Carlos Correa last season.

In his words, “So why not say, ‘alright, if we’re gonna throw all our money at somebody, let’s let it be the best player the world has seen, and just make that our huge move, and then go from there?’”

Will the Giants throw in a deal similar to that with Correa?

Shohei Ohtani emerged from being the Japanese league’s most promising player of this decade, if not the century, to being the most sought-after free agent of this year’s off-season. According to multiple sources, Ohtani’s prospective contract is predicted to be around a minimum of $500 million or above. It makes sense, given the plethora of talents the slugger brings along with him.

The biggest deal to take place in the Giants’ kingdom has been with Correa, whom they signed for a hefty $350 million sum for a term of 13 years. Despite facing potential challenges, the Giants might ultimately present the most lucrative contract offer to Ohtani, as reported by Bob Nightengale of USA Today.
