Pitching has been a key focus for the New York Yankees in recent weeks. After trading for Juan Soto and strengthening the outfield, adding rotation depth was a priority. Now, the Yankees have fulfilled their goal by signing Marcus Stroman to a deal. The rotation looks like it’s finally coming together after adding the former Mets and Cubs pitcher.

The links to Stroman had strengthened over the last few days, and a deal was finally reached. Although there are certain questions surrounding the righty pitcher, he will certainly be an asset to the Bronx Bombers. Furthermore, their starting rotation is looking strong now.

The New York Yankees’ projected starting rotation is looking a lot stronger with Marcus Stroman in it. Gerrit Cole was always a lock for the ace position, but there were some question marks surrounding the rest of the rotation. But now it is better. Carlos Rodon is likely to fill the second spot, with Stroman, Nestor Cortes Jr. and Clarke Schmidt following. This is a great-looking rotation, but Rodon and Cortes Jr. will be looking to make a comeback after 2023 disappointment.

Furthermore, Stroman also struggled a bit in the second half of the season after a hip injury. But he looked ace-level before that and even earned an All-Star nod. Following these 5 starters, Luke Weaver looks likely to be the 6th starter while also picking up bullpen innings.

All-in-all, the New York Yankees have built a decently strong rotation that will have to live up to expectations. It’s unlikely they add any other starting, with the strong Blake Snell links now dying down. With time left in this off-season, it is possible that the Bombers add more starting pitching, but ultimately seem unlikely.

The Yankees have been connected to bullpen options

Although the Yankees may not be adding more starters, bullpen pitchers are still an option. Most recently, they were linked to former Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Jordan Hicks. Although Hicks may not be the hurler they sign, bullpen depth may be a priority going forward. Furthermore, there are some top options left in free agency.
