Everything’s not well with the Yankees All-Star Aaron Judge! Firstly, the Yankees’ captain was trying to find the right pieces in the puzzle to get back to the World Series as injuries had rattled their lineup, and now Judge’s name didn’t even make it to the top of the 2025 AL MVP Favorites list. Quite surprising, isn’t it?

It is, given the 2024 season he had, and numbers cannot lie, right? Aaron Judge had an impressive. 322 batting average along with 58 home runs, and he was even given the MVP award along with the Silver Slugger award. That speaks volumes of his athletic prowess, making fans go crazy as their favorite star is being ignored over Bobby Witt Jr. So, does Bobby hold a better record than Judge?

Well, the Kansas City Royals’ star Bobby Witt Jr. made 211 hits in 2024, which was by far the highest by a shortstop since Derek Jeter’s 216 hits in 2021. Witt Jr.’s twenty games where he made at least three hits were just one short of Vladimir Guerrero Jr.’s record. While he didn’t win the AL MVP award in 2024, he secured the second position right next to Aaron Judge’s offensive season; this time, he made it to the top of the list, and Judge was in second place. Judge surely has been ignored, and fans cannot keep calm.

So now, with Bobby Witt Jr. making it to the top ten, Aaron Judge’s position in the AL MVP favorite list might be in danger as well. However, there’s no denying that Witt Jr. has also contributed a lot for the Royals, as he became one of the shortstops to have a 30-30 season, and he even finished his 2024 season with 32 homers and 31 stolen bases. That’s quite impressive, isn’t it?

But the Yankees’ fans do not agree to it, and that’s why baseball is facing the heat at the moment. Fans lambasted Bobby Witt Jr., questioning why Judge hasn’t made it to the top, despite winning two out of his last three MVPs. While most don’t seem happy with the MVP list, there were a few diverse opinions coming up as well.

Fans unhappy with Aaron Judge not making it to the top of the MVP list

Looking at the MVP list presented by MLB.com, it’s quite surprising for a lot of fans to see Aaron Judge being struck out from the first position, instead putting Bobby Witt Jr.’s name at the top. “How has Judge not earned the favorite winning 2 of the last 3 MVPs?” one user wrote, who seems quite surprised given Judge has won his second MVP in his 3 seasons, following Shohei Ohtani, who earned his third MVP. He is also a six-time All-Star and has set the AL record for most home runs, i.e., 62 in a single season.

What’s your perspective on:

Is Bobby Witt Jr. really outshining Aaron Judge, or is this just a temporary hype?

Another fan commented, “What a farce lmao.” It seems like the user has taken a humorous dig at MLB for ignoring Aaron Judge at the top and considers it a shame that Judge hasn’t gotten the recognition he deserves, despite making such huge contributions. However, contrary to this, another user believes that something has to be there for which Bobby Witt Jr. has surpassed Aaron Judge in the MVP list. “His performance must be turning heads. Let’s see if he can maintain this momentum through the season,” they wrote, and it’s true. Witt Jr. had been the first shortstop to have a 30-30 season, finishing the 2024 season with 31 stolen bases and 32 home runs—quite impressive!

Echoing a similar statement, one commenter stated, “Yeah, he’s definitely a favorite.” Well, the reason is quite simple—his performance. Witt Jr. was red hot in July, as he had an average of .489 with 44 hits, and it’s not just the best in entire Royals history but also the 13 best in a month in baseball since 1906. But that doesn’t end here! An ardent fan quoted, “If the Royals don’t make the postseason, he doesn’t deserve it, to be honest. MVPs are for players who help their team clinch the division or a wildcard spot,” noting that in case the Royals fail to make it to the postseason, Witt Jr. shouldn’t be regarded as one of the MVPs.

Well, MVP players are the ones who can lead their teams to success, like reaching the playoffs and winning the World Series title, which the Royals haven’t yet managed to achieve. Now, it’s too early to tell whether Witt Jr. can live up to the expectations or not. However, do you think Aaron Judge should have made it to the top of the MVP list?
