Certain kinds of defeats don’t require a dramatic twist, because apparently, the damage is done long before the final out. The Chicago White Sox learned the hard way while playing against the Detroit Tigers. Right in front of an opening day crowd high in pulse, the Tigers slammed the White Sox 7-4. All credit goes to Kerry Carpenter, the star of the show. And White Sox fans? They’re already fed up.

Carpenter’s first home run, which came in the bottom of the first inning, was initially ruled foul by the umpires. But a few replays later, they found out that the ball hit the pole and bounced into foul territory. And according to the rules, that’s a home run. Just like that, they finally ruled it a homer. And before you knew it, the Tigers were on the board.

The White Sox attempted to respond in the second to even things up at 1-1. But the tigers were unstoppable. During the third, Zach McKinstry smashed an RBI single and was followed by a groundout from Dillon Dingler. And by this time, the Tigers were up 3-1.

But the Tigers weren’t done yet! The sole serious threat came to the White Sox around the ninth. Kenta Maeda gave up three runs, and that’s when Will Vest entered to get the final outs. Then, Luis Robert Jr. came in and struck out. The Tigers secured the win.

Clearly, the White Sox fans never signed up for a game like this one. On top of it all, it wasn’t just a defeat for them; it was a downright embarrassing outing.
