Almost every baseball fan is aware of A-Rod’s wish to buy the New York Mets in 2020. But Steve Cohen topped his bid and bought the New York-based franchise. Recently, A-Rod opened up about losing his bid to the billionaire business tycoon Steve Cohen. Not to forget that A-Rod was not alone in that bid. His ex-fiancee, Jennifer Lopez, was the second partner of the Mets bid.

Even though Alex Rodriguez lost his bid to buy the New York Mets, the former Yankee did manage to become a part-owner of the NBA franchise, Minnesota Timberwolves. However, being a baseball player himself, A-Rod could have taken the Mets in a new direction. But he and Jennifer failed to buy the Mets.

Although Alex Rodriguez failed in buying the New York Mets, the former Yankee is glad that Steve Cohen is the new owner of the Mets. Recently, A-Rod appeared on a podcast show, where he discussed his life, career, business, and many other things.

Talking to the podcast host Martha Stewart, A-Rod said that he and Jennifer ran into a BuzzSaw. Notably, regardless of how wealthy A-Rod and Jennifer were, it was almost impossible to top Steve Cohen’s bid. He and Jennifer came second while bidding for the Mets.

“Well, we came in second. So, I say we were the second winner. And we ran into a BuzzSaw. I mean, with a guy like Steve Cohen who was one of the wealthiest people around in the world, he is a longtime Mets fan. And he won fair and square,” Alex Rodriguez said.

“He is doing an incredible job with that franchise. And it’s good for baseball to have wealthy owners who are extremely passionate and are deploying tons of capital into our game.”

Steve Cohen won the bid to buy the Mets

Per NBC News, the billionaire business mogul Steve Cohen bought the New York Mets for a whopping price of $2.42 billion. And ever since his ownership, the Mets have become a completely different team.
