The off-season has been extremely busy, with several deals taking place so far. The New York Yankees completed the off-season’s biggest deal by bringing back Aaron Judge for 9 years and $360 million. While that was a win for the franchise, there has been a lack of other moves to improve the team. They have not picked up any big acquisitions in terms of position players.
The Yankees did majorly improve their bullpen by signing Carlos Rodon, but there are still holes in their squad. A major update recently popped up regarding the Yankees 2023 season and fans are unhappy.

New updates have popped up about the Yankee’s 2023 starting lineup. The Yankees starting left fielder is reportedly going to be none other than Aaron Hicks. Bryan Hoch of MLB.com shared an update via Twitter. This included a quote from the Yankees GM Brian Cashman confirming that Hicks would most likely be starting.
Brian Cashman says that Aaron Hicks will likely be the #Yankees' starting left fielder.
"I suspect he will be the guy that emerges, because he's still really talented and everything's there."

In the Tweet, Hoch said, “Brian Cashman says that Aaron Hicks will likely be the #Yankees’ starting left fielder. ‘I suspect he will be the guy that emerges, because he’s still really talented and everything’s there.‘“
Fans have reacted to the update from Hoch and most of them are negative. Some fans have questioned Hicks’ quality as a player while others have taken shots at the Yankees GM.
We don’t deserve this

Pathetic. The Yankees aren’t winning anything with Boone as Manager and they certainly aren’t winning anything with Hicks in the starting lineup. Very disappointing.

Cashman now showing us all he not only sucks as the GM , but can't scout talent either ! What a loser he is . But Hal loves him , so making the playoffs and getting bounced just fine and dandy as we play mediocre talent . Cashman's specialty

Just unbelievable! Exactly what talent r we talking about? The guy has been a complete bust. He’s at best a 4th OF n on some teams he wouldn’t crack the roster. He’s a career 230 hitter. We’ve had enough of ur failed scraps u pick up from bad teams. Let the young kids play.

Just say “he’s starting in left field because no one else wants him and we don’t want to eat his salary”. Fans would be less pissed if he just admitted how bad this contract was

Brian Cashman did absolutely nothing to fix the offense this offseason. They will still continue to not hit Houston pitching in the postseason with the same lineup.

Ok so once again it will be a 90+ win season…maybe a division title or just a wildcard spot and of course an early exit is to be expected because the Yankees will not be able to make contact vs top SP in the post season. #Yankees

Beached guy and couldn’t get rid of him fast enough. Has zero value and now has no choice but to keep him and say he’s the starter. What a great GM.

This reaction from the fans is justified as they only want to see the team win a World Series. The Yankees genuinely have a lot of problems that they have to address with their roster before the season begins. Especially if they want to start the Aaron Judge era of captaincy with a bang.
Aaron Judge is the Yankee’s new captain, and he has a monumental task ahead
After officially signing his 9-year $360 million deal, Aaron Judge was named captain of the New York Yankees. The move has seemed like an obvious one for years, but fans are still happy about it. But Judge will have a tall task ahead of him. The Yankees crumbled in the 2022 ALCS to the Houston Astros. Thus making it 13 years since they last won a World Series.
