In 2018, shortly after Shohei Ohtani’s much-awaited arrival at the Angels, Shohei Ohtani and Mike Trout successfully enabled themselves as the future face of the Yankees. And rightly so.

Ohtani began his MLB career with a bang by winning the AL Rookie of the Year in 2018. Following that, he appeared on two All-Star teams and won the American League MVP award and the Silver Slugger award in 2021. Moreover, in 2021, Ohtani signed a two-year extension contract with the Angels for $8.5million.

All in all, these two stars have been magnificent for the Angels. However, the last time the Angels reached the postseason was in 2014. Ohtani and Trout have displayed a brilliant show of their talent. However, their combined effort hasn’t helped the Angels yet. Similarly, even in this season, Ohtani and Trout have already clocked 33 and 32 homers, respectively. But, the Angels are down at number 3 in the West Division of the AL.

Yesterday’s game against the Detroit Tigers was the 22nd instance of Trout and Ohtani smashing a homer in the same season and the 8th time in 2022.
