As Yankee Stadium went all-out and prepared for Judge’s 61st, Pirates’ lefty pitcher Eric Stout pulled off something extremely anti-climatic that resulted in the crowd screaming boos for him. The slugger made his MLB debut through Pinstripes in 2016. Since then, he won Rookie of the Year in 2017. He’s appeared on four All-Star teams, won two Silver Slugger awards, and led the list of homers in 2017. As seen, 2022 has only been better and probably the best season of his life.

Why did the crowd boo the Pirates pitcher?

The Yankees beat the Pirates when Giancarlo Stanton hit a final inning, a game-changing grand slam that pushed the Yanks over the Pirates. Consequently, the Yanks beat the Pirates 9-8. While game one was close, game two was a merciless Yankee rampage. In the eight innings of the game, while the Pinstripes led the Pirates 11-2, lefty pitcher Eric Stout walked Aaron Judge.

Yankee fans, who are not considered to be the nicer bunch, did not take it well. The minute Stout threw his fourth foul bowl, boos encroached on the stadium.

Aaron Judge in 2022

Words can’t possibly explain the season Aaron Judge is having. Since making his debut in 2016, Judge has only impressed his Yankee fanbase with every game he plays. His performance this season has also led to people drawing parallels between him and previous Yankee great Derek Jeter.

Moreover, his performance also extends to him carrying the Yankees on multiple occasions and rising to the occasion at their most desperate times. Now, Judge is competing for a potential Triple Crown – the first player to get this close to the award since the previous winner in 2012.
