Not everything is going right with the Philadelphia Phillies at the moment! They conceded a 3-1 defeat against the mighty Los Angeles Dodgers on Saturday at Citizens Bank Park. While it may sound a bit worrying for the team how things are going, their infielder, Bryson Stott, has done something unique. What is it?
The Philadelphia Phillies star put on special equipment to help reveal the gender of his friend’s child. That’s quite a unique way to make a gender reveal, isn’t it?
Going that extra mile to help a close friend is always special. Even more special that it’s all about his friend’s baby. During his first at-bat, Stott was found donning a pink armband on his left arm. It was a surprise for many who noticed it until the Phillies broadcaster, Tom McCarthy, clarified it. He said, “Bryson Stott did a favor for his buddy, Ryan Stevens, and his wife, Hailey, and he gave a gender reveal.” Stott wore it for his friend, Ryan Stevens, revealing that it’s a girl, and soon, congratulations pour in. However, that’s not the first time Stott did something like that, right?

The Philadelphia Phillies‘ broadcaster also highlighted the fact that Bryson Stott has a knack for customizing things. Stott has customized his sneakers, spikes, and props earlier as well. The second baseman shares a strong bond with Ryan Stevens, who has been involved in creating Stott’s custom cleats for the last couple of years. To date, Stevens has produced over a dozen of those shoes for Stott. And that’s why Stott’s gesture is a great way to return the favour.
Not bad at all for a gender reveal. It is visible to the audience, something that many couples still wish for. However, let’s take a look at Stott’s friend, who’s been doing it all these years for him.
Bryson Stott’s friend is living out his dream
Amid the gender reveal by Bryson Stott, which is going to be etched in the memories of many, his friend Ryan Stevens has his own job in hand. If you have watched a lot of Phillies games, you might have noticed the custom cleats that Bryson Stott wears. Be it the different colors—red, blue, and white—UK-themed icons. These stand out among many. And all of this is possible due to the father-son duo from Downingtown. Quite alluring to hear, right?

Ryan Stevens, who started as a baseball player in his college days, turned to customizing cleats. What looked like his hobby quickly transformed into a business named NxtLvl Customs, which started in 2020. “In high school, I painted my first pair of cleats. After one practice, they were ruined, and all the paint had come off,” Stevens was quoted as saying. It shows how naturally he wants to alter the studs and turn the damaged shoes into wearable ones. His father, Ron Stevens, provided a helping hand, too. Soon, there were other players like Zack Wheeler, Edmundo Sosa, Dylan Covey, and many more who also got hold of the customized cleats from Stevens.
