As the 2022 offseason continues to surprise us with strange turns every day, the heavily criticized New York Mets offseason receives long words of praise from ex-Yankee Alex Rodriguez. Despite losing a bid on the New York Mets to Steve Cohen in 2020, A-Rod did not shy away from positive words for a rival team and its billionaire owner.

In an episode of Colin Cowherd on The Herd, A-Rod speaks about the Mets letting Jacob deGrom leave, and how everyone from Queens consistently teased the Mets for a blunder of such intensity. However, A-Rod rises to their defense and speaks about deGrom’s absence leading to a fruitful reuniting of two ace pitchers.
What did Alex Rodriguez have to say about the Queens’ panic when Jacob deGrom took a flight to Texas?
Therefore, while the entire Mets fanbase panicked, A-Rod stayed calm and also moved to add some piece of applause for Steve Cohen and the Mets manager Buck Showalter. On being asked about deGrom’s departure, A-Rod said, “I thought it was a brilliant move.”
A-Rod continued to add, “No one wants to lose deGrom. Jacob deGrom is one of the best pitchers of the game. But boy, if he can come back instead of giving five years, you give up two years and you reunite Scherzer and Berlin, there’s a wonderful move.”
Then, A-Rod offered a few words of praise for Steve Cohen, who beat him in a New York Mets ownership bid in 2020, Buck Showalter, and the entire Mets front office. He said, “Colin, there’s nothing that calms down these baseball nations, right? Big franchises and rich history is when you have smart people. Look, in a thunderstorm, you want a great pilot. And there’s no better pilot in the game today than Buck Showalter.”
A-Rod also continues to make an extremely bold prediction:
Finally, before the conclusion of this segment, A-Rod makes a bold prediction for the New York Mets and substantiates it with Cohen’s pocket. He said, “To have Steven Cohen’s pocket, 16-17 billion dollars the richest owner in the game of baseball. I said it when they hired Buckshot Walter, they will win two championships in the next seven years, and I stand by my comment.”
