Sport is a fickle mistress. There are days on which it works for you, and then there are days on which nothing you do leads to the desired outcome. And while most athletes have seen both crests and troughs of performance, Walker Buehler isn’t going through the most favorable patches of performance lately. And when the LA Dodgers’ star performer is just not having it go his way, there are bound to be some displays of unhappiness.

The LA Dodgers sit pretty atop the NL with a 33-15 record, and while it may bode well for the franchise, Walker Buehler has not had the best record this season. Despite turning in some impressive performances, this season has been a forgettable one for Buehler. With a 3.22 ERA so far, in 2022, he is far above his rock standard over the past seasons. But when a player of Buehler’s caliber cannot perform to his best, the frustration is apparent. And Buehler made it clear.
LA Dodgers’ Walker Buehler gets upset after a lackluster pitching performance
As the table-topping LA Dodgers took on the Pittsburgh Pirates at Dodger Stadium, fans expected the Dodgers to ding up another win to start the series on a high. However, fate had other plans. With Walker Buehler starting on the mound, fans expected a miserly performance in conceding runs. But Buehler’s record flattered to deceive.

With the pitcher conceding a 3-run homer at the bottom of the 2nd inning, he stormed into the dugout, clearly upset with his performance. And he made it known to people all around, just the nature of his disappointment with what he had delivered. He threw his gloves into the dugout to punctuate how he felt.

Buehler went on to concede one more run in the 4th to bring the Pirates’ lead to 4-0 before the Dodgers staged a comeback rally to lead the Pirates 5-4 by the end of the eighth. The Dodgers’ luck, though, seemed to run out soon after as the Pirates snagged onto a two-home run inning at the top of the 9th to retake the lead.

And with the Dodgers’ hitters failing to make a mark at the bottom of the ninth, the LA franchise succumbed to only their 15th loss this season.

A player of Buehler’s class cannot be kept out of contention for long and is sure to see a return to form at some point. But what do you think? Could we see him rally back in his next start from the mound? Or do you think he needs a break to recalibrate?
