Can Francisco Lindor's 'My Girl' magic lead the Mets to a historic comeback against the Dodgers?

How cool is it to have a legendary group like The Temptations in your ballpark? The group kicked off Game 5 of the National League Championship Series at a packed Citi Field on Friday, and what a way to set the tone! They treated the crowd to a soulful rendition of “My Girl,” which, as Mets fans know, has become the unofficial anthem for shortstop Francisco Lindor this season.

Just imagine the atmosphere—Otis Williams, the last original member still in the group, led the performance, and it quickly turned into a stadium-wide sing-along. To top it all off, they also sang the National Anthem, creating a perfect blend of nostalgia and excitement. It got the crowd hyped for the game!

It looks like The Temptations worked their magic once again! With their backs against the wall, the Mets pulled off a stunning 12-6 victory over the Dodgers, forcing a thrilling Game 6 back in Los Angeles. Talk about a comeback for the ages! And let’s give some extra love to Francisco Lindor, who’s been a real game-changer. After a rocky start to the season, Lindor made the bold choice to switch up his walk-up song to The Temptations’ classic, “My Girl”—and it’s been paying off ever since. Before Game 5, Lindor was even spotted jamming to the tune with a huge grin on his face. Safe to say, that musical choice has been nothing short of MVP-worthy! Do you think the song will keep bringing him the playoff magic?

Even Otis Williams, the legendary founding member of The Temptations, couldn’t help but get in on the action. When asked if he was a baseball fan, Williams cheekily coughed and said, “Dodgers,” giving a fun nod to the competition. But regardless of team loyalty, it’s undeniable how much The Temptations’ “My Girl” has become a rallying anthem at Citi Field. Since Lindor adopted it as his walk-up song back in May, fans have been totally hooked, singing along with all their heart as Lindor steps up to the plate. The atmosphere is electric, with the whole stadium vibing to the sweet sounds of Motown while their star shortstop keeps delivering the hits!

While they can savor that big win, the reality of the series ahead looms large. Flying back to Los Angeles right after must feel like a whirlwind—celebrate for a moment, then right back to business. Despite trailing 3-2, that win must feel like a fresh breath of hope for the Mets. The chance to shift the momentum heading into Dodger Stadium is huge! Citi Field was electric, especially after those tough Games 3 and 4.

Hammering Jack Flaherty like that—eight runs in three innings—is a serious statement. It must’ve felt like every hit brought the fans to their feet, and that 10-2 lead after just four innings must’ve given them a huge boost of confidence. With 10 hits and so much offensive production, it really shows they were determined to turn the tide. Do you think this kind of explosive performance can carry over to the next game in L.A.?
