Is Corbin Carroll the most exciting player in MLB right now? His speed is just unreal!

Arizona Diamondbacks’ Corbin Carroll is making headlines with his electrifying performance, and his latest display against the Los Angeles Dodgers is nothing short of spectacular! Remember that jaw-dropping home run he crushed in Game 1 of the series? If you thought that was impressive, Carroll just took it up a notch with a thrilling inside-the-park home run—all in the first inning! But why are we calling it a comeback for someone who’s just 24 years old?

It’s because Carroll’s journey to this point has been far from straightforward, and his current form is nothing short of remarkable. He’s hitting .267 with a .333 on-base percentage and an incredible .656 slugging percentage this month. And let’s not forget, he’s launched five homers in his last five games, including a solo shot off Clayton Kershaw in Game 1 of the ongoing series. Talk about a fiery resurgence!

To add to the excitement, Carroll’s inside-the-park home run marks the first time a Diamondbacks player has achieved this feat since Jordan Luplow in 2022. If you missed the action, don’t worry—the official MLB X account has all the highlights for you! Carroll is proving to be a force to be reckoned with, and his performance is setting the stage for what promises to be a thrilling season ahead.

Is Corbin Carroll the fastest of all?

In this video, we can see the 24-year-old slashing the ball, even though Los Angeles Dodgers center fielder Kevin Kiermaier leaped at the wall. The ball bounced over his glove like it was on a mission. There was no way the ball was going to be caught. As soon as Carroll made contact, he was off like a rocket, helmet flying and all! It was like watching a cheetah in baseball cleats.

He crossed home plate without even having to slide. And guess how many seconds he took—only 14! This is the fifth-fastest since the Statcast era. If we talk about speed, Carroll is one of the fastest guys in MLB right now! And we might know what motivated him to do so. See, the Dodgers were flexing their muscle with Shohei Ohtani, Mookie Betts, and Freddie Freeman. All of their MVPs were hitting back-to-back home runs off the Diamondbacks.

The D-backs needed a spark, and Corbin Carroll delivered that big time with a 415-foot blast to center field. Well, it was just a sweet view of the Diamondbacks-Dodgers rivalry, which has heated up in the past year. This heat-off is responsible for bringing out the best in the players and also for attracting the biggest crowds in baseball! Yup, you heard right. The Diamondbacks’ home ground witnessed its second record-breaking audience count since 2019.

The Chase Field saw more than 50,000 fans!

A whopping 50,041 fans packed Chase Field for a regular-season game—can you believe that? It’s only the second time in franchise history that the stadium has seen a crowd like this. The record for the largest regular-season crowd at Chase Field? That’s right, it was also against the Dodgers! On August 31, 2019, a massive 50,180 fans turned out to watch the D-backs and Dodgers battle it out.

It seems like they are star-cross rivals, but how did it start? It all kicked off last year when the Diamondbacks pulled off a major upset by knocking the Dodgers out of the NLDS. That set the stage for some serious fireworks! And the fire isn’t off yet. This season, things are even more intense as both of the teams are playing extremely well, but the D-backs are fighting tooth and nail to stay in the mix for the NL West.

But the fans got what they needed: an intense game. The game was initially tied 6-6 in the eighth. But then the Dodgers took an 8-6 lead in the ninth inning, winning the game. The cherry on top was, of course, Corral’s inside-the-park home run. Although it didn’t help the Diamondbacks secure a win, it’s iconic in many ways. With September here and the Dodgers and Diamondbacks being neck-and-neck on the leaderboards, things are only going to get more intense.

The Diamondbacks were league champs last year, so who knows—could they pull off another championship run, or will the competition prove too fierce? Drop your thoughts in the comments.
