Known for his calm, composed, and competitive spirit, Derek Jeter was rarely witnessed in a position of discomfort. In consonance with that, popularly called Captain Clutch, captain Jeter frequently carried the Yanks out of uncomfortable positions, and literally clutched the Bronx Bombers.
Analogous to that, captaining the most victorious Major League franchise is not easy. However, looking at Jeter leading the Pinstripes and sponging all the pressure, the position of captaincy looked easier than ever before.

This time, though, when Jeter received a question from the Drink Champs team, he found himself in a position of discomfort. In a podcast with Drink Champs that aired in the first week of November, Derek Jeter faced a question that asked him to make a choice between two NY Yankees legends, Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig.
Babe Ruth or Lou Gehrig? Derek Jeter makes his choice.
The minute he received this question, he was put in an uncomfortable position, which was evocative by his response, “Ah damn, man!” The team, knowing what they had just done, burst into laughter. If Jeter chose to not make a choice, the Drink Champs would take a drink instead of him. Picking between two legends was never going to be an easy task, even for Captain Jeter.
Plunging into thought, before making a pick, Jeter tried to justify his selection. He said, “Lou was Yankee Captain. Babe [was] larger than life. Just get the drink, man.”
Eventually, the entire team of Drink Champs, along with Derek Jeter, took a drink. Before moving on to the next segment, Jeter sarcastically said, “How many of these questions have we got?”

For 20 long years, Derek Jeter played in the Bronx. Eight years after making his debut, in 2003, the Yankees front office handed the title of captaincy to their star shortstop. Eventually, in 2014, Jeter announced the end of his MLB tenure and left the game with his head held high.
In 2017, the Pinstripes honored his 20-year-career, five World Championship victories, the Roberto Clemente Award, and many other accolades by adding a plaque with his name to Monument Park. Moreover, in 2020, Jeter made his way to the MLB Hall of Fame with a 99.75% majority.
