While addressing the media before the game, Showalter was excited to watch Shakira doing the honor of the first pitch of the game. “Big night tonight! Shakira is here. She better come down, she’s still to throw the first pitch…,” Showalter said. “She’s married to a famous soccer player… I think it’s just her tonight, though.”

But, Showalter was disappointed to learn that she will be there as a guest only. “She is just a guest. She is not throwing out the first pitch,” a reporter informed the Mets manager.

Although Shakira did not throw the first pitch, she posed for a picture with Buck Showalter after the game.

Taking to Twitter, Bleacher Report shared the photo, in which Shakira is standing in the middle of Showalter and the Mets star Eduardo Escobar.
