Well, once Rodriguez gains the approval, he will be taking the majority ownership along with Marc Lore. This idea came about in 2021, when both of them purchased the Lynx and Timberwolves for a 20 percent stake at $1.5 billion. However, they had options open for them to gain full ownership of the team.
Gradually, the stake got increased to 40 percent and then ultimately, 80 percent in 2024. And that’s it! Taylor now had the obligation to sell the team at $1.5 billion, which was the initial valuation of the team. But there’s still some time left, as once they gain the approval of 23 of the owners out of 30, they will be controlling the ownership of the club from then onwards.
