With spring training just a few days away, the 2022 off-season is about to come to an end. Until now, the action has remained jampacked, and it does not look like it will  stop any time soon. It’s because MLB’s franchise Houston Astros recently added the last player to their 40-man roster. Having the roster full, the Astros are now looking toward a great spring season and aiming for their third World Series ring.

They acquired the last man to their roster from the Toronto Blue Jays. The Jays put their left-handed pitcher, Matt Gage, on release waivers on February 6. Then the reigning World Series winner took him off the waiver seven days later, on February 13. Gage made his MLB debut last season, making eleven appearances and logging a stellar 1.38 ERA with 12 strikeouts in 13.0 innings of work. As soon as the news of the pitcher joining the Astros went up on Twitter, congratulations and best wishes were heaped on the thirty-year-old.

Since then, he has played for the Giants and the Mets and joined the Mexican league’s Diablos Rojos del Mexico for the 2019 season. Then the pitcher played for the Arizona Diamondbacks and Toronto Blue Jays before finally getting called up by the Astros.
