“Want to Be There…”- Derek Jeter Talks About Committed Goals Towards His Family in Life Post-Retirement

When Derek Jeter was active as a baseball player, he only ever cared about his career. He did have a string of love relationships, but none took a serious turn. That was because he didn’t think deeply enough about either having a family or getting married. But retirement changed his life, and he became a man with a different set of goals.  

Jeter had always emphasized the need for proper parenthood and family values. He always credited his parents for the peaks of success he stood upon. Moreover, he has consistently mentioned his parents’ presence around him in vital moments. Therefore, Jeter wanted to repeat that in his own life. So Jeter waited until retirement to get married and start a family.

Retiring from baseball in 2014, he married his supermodel girlfriend Hannah Davis in 2016. The couple has given birth to three daughters since then, namely, Bella Raine, Story Grey, and River Rose. So as a devoted father, Jeter now has ambitions projected around the growth of his family. 

Derek Jeter’s life as a family-oriented man 

Derek Jeter now portrays a similar level of dedication towards his family, as he once did for his sporting career. After concluding his playing tenure, he also got into franchise ownership and administration. But those days are behind for him now, as he has other priorities in life. Jeter recently had an interview with the Bloomberg Network, where opened up about life post-retirement. 

While speaking at the interview, Jeter said, “Got three young girls right now and I want to be present with them in their lives. I just don’t necessarily think I have the time to commit to doing what I was doing when I was in Miami. Family, I think that’s the most important thing. I want to be there for my girls. Help them find out what they’re passionate about and be there to support them.”

Thus, Jeter has explained the essence of time spent with family. Derek and Hannah mostly lead an old-fashioned life. They retain minimal touch with social network media. Moreover, they are also careful regarding the amount of publicity of their family. 

The early life of the baseball legend 

Born to Sanderson Charles and Dorothy, Derek came from a hard-working background. His parents instilled the same positive mindset in him since childhood. A native-born of New Jersey, he spent most of his childhood in Michigan. He began playing in the minor leagues as a five-year-old.
