Alex Rodriguez has never been shy to express his point of view on any aspect. He is always vocal when it comes to sharing his views on anything related to baseball, and this tendency has brought him severe criticism lots of times. There was a similar incident even a few months back when he talked about his perspective on Shohei Ohtani‘s trade. The illegal proposal raised a wave of laughter among the fans. Within a few months, his ESPN broadcast with Michael Kay put a question on his claim of being a great MLB analyst. After the Toronto Blue Jays and Minnesota Twins’ first playoff game, social media got flooded with brutal criticisms for the two hosts.

The 2023 MLB playoffs have begun, and already MLB fans have witnessed an iconic record-breaking scene. The Minnesota Twins have broken their 19-year playoff record this year. Interestingly, the two ESPN broadcasters were connected to their great rival team, The New York Yankees, and fans took this chance to troll them as “infamia.”

The 2009 World Series Champion often appears in different podcasts and shows, talking about strategies and analysis of the teams. During his podcast with Bret Boone, he talked about an impossible Ohtani trade. The former Yankees star mentioned that The Angles should trade Ohtani in exchange for draft picks, which can’t be possible in reality. First, Draft Picks can’t be traded in MLB, and second, Ohtani’s trade is out of the question at this point. While trying to show off his smart thinking, the MLB star didn’t understand when he made a colossal blunder.

While this has already offended the fans enough, they got the chance to show their anger when the Minnesota Twins vs. Toronto Blue Jays game’s broadcaster duo was announced. While the anger was already coming out, it got a blast after the Minnesota Twins won the game 3-1, breaking their 19-year losing streak. Since 2004, the Twins hadn’t won a single playoff season. They even had the worst record 0-18 in the AL. The last time postseason victory the Twins’ was in 2005, against the New York Yankees. Later, the Yankees took the lead and washed them off. Of course, A-Rod was part of the Yankees team in 2005. Interestingly, Kay is a renowned Yankees fan.

This year, things got an upside-down turn. While the Yankees are not in the playoffs, the Twins won their first playoff game. The fans didn’t let go of this opportunity without unleashing their anger.

Fans mock’s A-Rod’s broadcasting acumen

Fans mixed these things up to criticize A-Rod’s skills and his potential as a broadcaster. Though Michael Kay has proved his mettle as a renowned ESPN show host, he also gets criticism from the fans. After the Ohtani comment, A-Rod’s position was already vulnerable and the Tuesday game heightened it to another level.
