While the New York Yankees comfortably lead the Eastern Division of the American League, standing at 2 and 3 are the Toronto Blue Jays and Tampa Bay Rays, respectively. Looking at the current standings realistically, the Pinstripes have almost secured themselves a postseason berth. Consequently, the battle remains between who will compete for the Wild Card berth in 2022. Yesterday, the five-match series between the Rays and Jays commenced. However, proceedings took an ugly turn when Bo Bichette got hit on his arm by a pitch that just missed his head.

Bichette completely turned the game around in the immediate next innings. As a result, the Jays won the game and successfully overtook the Rays in the AL East Division.

Why did Bo Bichette hit the ground?

In the seventh innings of the game, Bichette got hit on his arm at 97.1 mph. Following the hit, out of frustration, Bichette smashed the ground with his bat. Palpably, Bichette was extremely upset after that pitch. He displayed his frustration in a lucrative way in the approaching innings.

Skippers from both sides got into a verbal fight thanks to the pursuing pitch that hit Francisco Mejía.

Ultimately, all turned out well for the Jays as Bichette blasted a two-run homer in the eight innings that guided them to a 3-2 victory over the Rays.

The 2022 race to the postseason

As the season reaches its most exciting half, injuries, deals, disappointments, and surprises are about to surround the league. Currently, the LA Dodgers stand at the top of the National League and MLB and display themselves as the most fitting contenders for the World Series. On the other hand, Houston Astros lead the American League.
