Another day, another epic sports crossover! This time, it’s baseball meeting tennis. Yep, you heard that right! Just days after the Yankees introduced their captain’s hybrid jersey—a cool mix of America’s two most favorite pass times, The Bronx star Juan Soto was spotted sharing a moment with tennis star Flavio Cobolli at the US Open. It’s like the Yankees are all in for every sport! And to share this moment with the world, Major League Baseball’s official account uploaded a picture of the rising sports players, posing with each other.
Do you remember that iconic Spider-Man meme where multiple Spider-Mans are pointing at each other? Well, Juan Soto and Flavio Cobolli recreated something similar. They stood side by side, pointing at each other with one hand on each other’s shoulder, as if they were the same person from different sports universes. The internet went wild! And instead of the New York Yankees, it was the Mets fans who stole the spotlight with their cheeky comments!
But on the field, it definitely feels like the Yankees have taken over the US Open! With so many of their stars making an appearance, Aaron Judge and teammate Anthony Rizzo were among the first to enjoy the action on their day off. Judge attended with his wife, Samantha Bracksieck, while Rizzo was there with his wife, Emily. And guess what? Soto isn’t married yet, but that doesn’t mean he went solo. He was there with his teammate Oswaldo Cabrera, another Bronx native in the mix!

Even though Soto didn’t bring luck to Flavio Cobolli, who lost to Daniil Medvedev, Mets fans are all in on him! They’re convinced Soto could be their lucky charm and have absolutely flooded MLB’s latest post with comments, hoping he’ll join their team.
Mets’ fans are manifesting for Juan Soto in the comment box!
One fan perfectly captured what every New York Mets fan is thinking right now: “Juan Soto is visiting his future home borough, I see.” Yankees fans clearly adore Soto—just look at the “Re-sign Soto” chants from a game a few days ago. But let’s not forget that New York has two teams: the Yankees and the Mets. The Mets are showing interest in Soto as well. With Soto set to hit free agency next year, the buzz is that both teams will be in a fierce battle for him. The competition is heating up, and it’s already sparked a fan rivalry online!
Yet another Mets fan joked, “He’s basically at Citi Field!” Although Soto was close to the Mets’ home ground, Citi Field, just a few minutes away in the same borough, he’s still far from joining the team. Additionally, there’s no guarantee he’ll become a Met anytime soon. Like Shohei Ohtani, Soto is likely to stir up a frenzy during free agency, and the Yankees will certainly put up a tough fight to keep him! However, for MLB fans, it will be worth watching it next year.
A different perspective came from a fan who said, “Should’ve spent that time at the batting cage.” That might be a little unfair to Juan Soto. The Childish Bambino is having one of the best years of his career right now, with over 36 home runs and an unreal on-base rate. Given his outstanding performance, it’s only natural for Soto to take a brief detour to enjoy some sporting glory; after all, the US Open happens only once a year—who would want to miss that?
“Dope!! Great seeing the Yanks at the US Open supporting”, another user chimed in, applauding the Bronx efforts! Well, as one already know, the Yankees have taken over the US Open with Aaron Judge, Anthony Rizzo, Juan Soto, and Oswaldo Cabrera. The list seems incomplete, though, as Giancarlo Stanton and Anthony Volpe were also seen attending. Clearly, the Yankees’ support is real. But it’s not just the Yankees making waves; the US Open always attracts a star-studded crowd. On Day 6 alone, the tennis field saw Hugh Jackman (a.k.a. Wolverine), Serena Williams, David Lee, Stan Smith, and many other stars. It was like a mini constellation of celebrities!
One fan humorously took a jab at Soto’s batting style, commenting, “Does he need a racket to hit?” which is actually a baseball slang used for a player who doesn’t hit much. Sure, Soto does take a lot of walks, but let’s not overlook his 37 home runs this season! His selective swings are his specialty—he won’t swing the bat or hit a ball unless necessary. But when he does swing, he definitely knows how to hit it out of the park.
And a lot of people might feel the same way, especially the Mets. What happens when Soto becomes a free agent next year is anyone’s guess. For now, he’s fully embracing his role as a Yankee by supporting other sports and making the most of his time both on and off the field. It’s exciting to see who else might join the list—will more stars show up at the tennis festivities as the tournament heats up? Who do you want to see attending the next game? Let us know in the comments!
