For the New York Yankees, the season end is too little too late. Occupying the last place in the AL East for the majority of the season, the team has been struggling. With veteran players either injured or unable to conquer their slump, the Yankees are looking to their youngsters to take them forward. But seasoned players won’t be outdone, as Giancarlo Stanton recently proved.
Stanton has been in an awful slump all season, pouring expectations of the Bronx fans down the drain. From his hitting struggles to his slow baserunning that has cost games, 2023 has been a bust for Big G. But apparently, he’s taking inspiration from the captain with his home runs to give the Yankees a late-season rally.

Giancarlo Stanton and His Monster Home Run Echoes AL MVPs
Currently playing against the usually strong Houston Astros, the Yankees are surprisingly doing alright. Even Big G had a home run to spare, and he echoed Aaron Judge with the move. On May 16th, when the Yankees captain was still on a rampage to give the team an edge, Judge hit a massive long ball against the Toronto Blue Jays. The game was taking place at Rogers Center and the 6’7″ outfielder, in an answer to cheating allegations, smashed a homer that broke a maple leaf logo.

Interestingly, Judge’s main AL rival, Shohei Ohtani has done the same in a previous match. In a recent match-up between the Angels and the Mets, Ohtani broke a scoreboard light that had the Mets operator making light of the situation by sending him the bill for the damage.
Giancarlo Stanton, apparently in an imitation of the moves, hit an absolute monster home run that hit the window at Minute Maid Park. It was a 443-foot moonshot that should ideally have had fans cheering. He wasn’t the first one to ever do it but in a season that has seen more terrible performances from him than good, it should have been a relief.
However, Bronx fans are more than angry at Stanton and his slow baserunning this season. His recent flurry of home runs is coming in too late and it won’t help save the season anymore. So despite what should have been a moment to cheer, Yankees fans tore into the slugger on social media.
New York Yankees Fans Are Not Impressed
Compared to the youngsters in Pinstripes, Stanton is a veteran of the game. But ever since he signed with New York, he has only disappointed despite his hefty $325 million contract. And most fans are tired of giving him chances.

The 2023 season has been nothing less than a disaster, so this rally late in the season won’t help things much. All that Bronx fans can hope for now is that the next season is better and the youth movement helps.
