Although the Oakland Athletics are struggling now, they were once a dynasty. During the 1970s, the Athletics were one of the top MLB teams. They won 3 consecutive World Series titles from 1972-74. During that run, one of their top performers was ace pitcher Vida Blue. Most recently, Blue tragically passed away, leaving Athletics fans in mourning as they paid their respects.

Blue achieved it all during his career – All-Star appearances, a historic MVP award, and even the Cy Young award. Athletics fans and baseball fans are devastated by the loss of a pitching legend.

But the Oakland-based team isn’t the only franchise to lose a legend as the New York Yankees lost one earlier this year. Beyond the 3 World Series titles, Blue also won the AL MVP award in 1971. By doing so, he became the youngest-ever MVP in MLB history at 22 years old. The Athletics has lost a true legend in the 73-year-old pitcher. He won 3 World Series titles but was also cursed on the biggest stage.
