New York Yankees is by far one of the greatest teams in the history of Major League Baseball. Because of the success that the Yankees have had over the decades, they have also received enough criticism from rival MLB teams. Thereby, chants of the Yankees stinking are often heard in games other than baseball. And if any team is playing in Boston, such chants are the most common phenomenon.?
Something similar happened last night when during an NHL game between the Boston Bruins and New York Islanders at the TD Garden. The Bruins were already having the edge in the game and out of the blue, “Yankees suck” broke out. It was a pitiful attempt at trying to bring the morale down of the opposition, considering that most of the Islanders’ fans do not even favor the Yanks.
How did baseball fans react to the mocking of the New York Yankees?

I always thought this becoming a vibe at any event was weird when we’ve been winning more than the Yankees for a decade plus now, but it’s become tradition I guess

Although I find that amusing The Red Sox are likely to finish the 2023 season at least 15 games behind the Yankees. Let’s enjoy the B’s and C’s while we can. The Sox are 2 years and a new President of Baseball Ops away from even being competitive in the division.

A couple of the Yankees fans reminded others that most of the Islanders’ fanbase consists of the fans of the Yankees’ rival team New York Mets. Therefore, they are unhinged about the chants. Also, it wasn’t the first time that it had happened. And thus, the fans of the Bronx Bombers are used to it by now. However, the Sox fans did enjoy it last night.?

Yankees & Red Sox rivalry: a tale that lasts to the end of time
Babe Ruth coming to the Bronx in 1919 was the start of this fiercest rivalry in the sport’s history. Notably, the Boston Red Sox owner Harry Frazee traded the legendary Babe Ruth to the New York Yankees for a mere $125,000. Even at the time, it was a less amount for a player like Ruth. Following the trade started the Curse of the Bambino, which forbade the team from winning any World Series for around 86 years.?

It was at that moment that the Red Sox fanbase started growing envious of the Bronx Bombers and have not stopped till now. It might have made the fanbase a little soft in terms of heckling, but the enviousness has spread to other sports as well.?
