Aaron Judge’s absence has affected the Yankees’ stats in a bad way. Since June, the team is experiencing a major player slump while batting stats have dropped to .218 in 31 games. Presently, the only player helping the Yankee’s prospects of clearing the postseason is the new talent on the team, Anthony Volpe. The hitter, who after a chicken parm dinner, improved his stance and turned things around.

However, this performance adjustment, became a big blunder for the management, especially hitting coach Dillon Lawson. Amid the management’s failure to highlight the issue, Lawson was fired making him the first Yankee coach to get fired since Brian Cashman. Nevertheless, Aaron Boone was quick to defend the team management’s effort. As the Yankee manager claims the chicken parm theory is not fair to the coaches.

Recently, in an interview, while talking about Volpe’s performance, the Yankee manager was asked, How before the infamous dinner did the three hitting coaches not pull up the tape from Volpe’s old tapes to notice this difference? Aaron Boone, defending his staff stated, “I think it’s oversimplifying it. Things are going on all the time. That’s two close teammates talking on an off day, and oftentimes teammates influence each other all the time.

Further, Boone added “I think it’s oversimplifying to say our group wasn’t tapped into certain things. These guys are pouring over videos and swing mechanics all the time. So it’s not fair to necessarily say that.” As the manager emphasized the fact that this dinner was oversimplifying the team’s effort.

However, irrespective of Aaron Boone’s claims, the Yankee’s batting has been struggling more than it should have since Judge’s absence. And, the parm dinner might have been the only thing saving the team from losing and not witnessing the playoffs.

The infamous Chicken Parmesan Dinner

Last month, Yankee rookie Anthony Volpe, on an off day, invited some of his 2022 minor league teammates, including Austin Wells, to his house. The players hung out together and bonded over chicken parm dinner when Austin Wells noticed something different with the player’s stance. Since then, the veteran has adjusted his position on the field and has been playing well, with 146-point improvements.
