Alex Rodriguez is embarking on a new journey. The baseballer-turned-businessman led a mostly fulfilling career in his active MLB years. Following the end of his career, retirement brought him closer to his other passion – business. Founder of The A-Rod Corp and owner of multiple other organizations, the retired New York Yankees slugger has achieved it all. But fans still have a bone to pick.
The only thing a young A-Rod, growing up in a humble household, wanted was to play his beloved sport and be a CEO one day. Fast forward to 2023, he has achieved both in great measure. The ex-shortstop is as familiar with striking amazing deals as he was prolific at hitting home runs. Interestingly, he’s embarking on a new journey that combines both.

Back in 2020, when the world was closed and everyone was trying new things at home, Alex Rodriguez started a podcast. The former Yankees player interviewed industry leaders, sports legends, and entrepreneurs living the American Dream. While ‘The Corp’ didn’t last too long, A-Rod is now back with another podcast venture.
Bloomberg has signed @AROD to co-host a new original podcast and video series called The Deal.
The 12 episodes “will explore the stories, strategies, and challenges behind some of the biggest business moves made by athletes, entertainers, and executives across industries.“

Along with Bloomberg Originals chief correspondent Jason Kelly, the businessman will host a video-accompanied podcast called ‘The Deal’. They will “explore the stories, strategies, and challenges behind some of the biggest business moves made by athletes, entertainers, and executives across industries,” per Bloomberg.
With 12 episodes, the show is likely to arrive in early 2024, with the first guest to be Endeavor and TKO president and COO Mark Shapiro. Rodriguez is clearly excited about the new project, hoping to inspire rookies in business.
“Jason brings his experience as a seasoned journalist and I share what I’ve learned from the best in sports and business. Our show will welcome iconic figures to provide insights that you won’t hear anywhere else,” he told The Hollywood Reporter.
I believe we are in a new era of deal making. One that’s centered around media disruption, M&A, and athlete ownership.
Very excited for “The Deal” a new video podcast with @jasonkellynews and @business coming early 2024.

Unfortunately for Rodriguez, fans are less than happy about this new venture and don’t have many good things to say on social media.

One pointed to his steroid-tainted past.

Another referred to recent news about Rodriguez naming other players in the Biogenesis scandal.
Cool. Will the show explore the story of @arod accusing other players is using PEDs to the Feds? Awesome business strategy.
