Even though MLB did not recognize the greatness of Barry Bonds, the former San Francisco Giants star will remain one of the most celebrated players in the modern era of baseball. If not for his controversial PEDs case, Bonds would have been in the same company as Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Mickey Mantle, and a few MLB greats.

Barry Bonds was a serial hitter in baseball. If not for the 2005 season, the Giants legend always scored double-digit homers in a season throughout his MLB career. Such a hitter he was during his playing days. There have been many skilled players in the game. But when it comes to hard-hitting, Bonds was in a league of his own.

Recently, ace comedian, Paul Virzi, and sports commentator, Joe Rogan, discussed the greatness of Barry Bonds, especially Virzi. Virzi shared an interesting incident related to Bonds when he met the former New York Mets manager, Mickey Callaway.

Barry Bonds: A nightmare for pitchers

Talking about his legacy in MLB, Paul Virzi revealed an interesting chat he had with a former Mets manager. When Virzi had time to meet Calloway, former Mets manager, he directly asked Calloway about the best player in MLB. And what Calloway replied left Virzi stunned.

Virzi said, “Pete Davidson is a good friend of mine, and he was at SNL. He goes, ?dude, come down…'”

“We go down and I am sitting next to this guy and his hair slicked back. Everybody is coming up to him and he’s got the beard and I am looking at this guy. I am drinking vodka? The guy you are next to is the Mets’ new manager, Mickey Callaway,” Virzi added further.

?And I was like… Can I ask you a question? … I asked, ‘who is the best baseball player you have ever seen live…?’ And he goes, ‘Oh Barry Bonds. Nobody in history made a pitcher pay for a mistake more. If a pitcher made one f**king mistake by an inch, over,’? Virzi elaborated on this incident on Joe Rogan?s podcast.

With 762 home runs from the plate, no one has hit more home runs than Barry Bonds in Major League Baseball. However, it is a pity that a player as great as Bonds never won a World Series in his illustrious career. And earlier this year, he also got robbed of the MLB Hall of Fame induction in the last year of his eligibility.
