While recalling the retirement game of Derek Jeter, his wife Hannah Jeter shared emotional secrets that stirred fans’ emotions years later.

Notably, retirement moments make the most strong-hearted person emotional. It not only impacts the players but their family members as well. The legend’s wife (girlfriend at that time) gave a candid interview to The Players’ Tribune in 2017, where she shared her unforgettable moments from her fiance’s last appearance at Yankee Stadium.

Hannah Jeter Expressed Her ‘Unforgettable’ Experience

When in 2014, the announcement of the former Yankees captain’s retirement shocked the fans. However, the legend was on his point that it is the time to bid goodbye. Every MLB fan got emotional during Jeter’s last appearance at the Yankee Stadium; so as did the legend himself. Two years before their wedding, the American Model opened up her mind, expressing her thoughts. She called the night an ‘unforgettable’ experience for her. For Hannah, it opened up a new side of the legend, she revealed, “I remember watching Derek walk out to shortstop for the last time at Yankee Stadium. I remember how he seemed to be absorbing everything — every sound, every fan, all of the energy. There was something about the feeling of that night that was unforgettable.”

The model once claimed she didn’t know about Jeter’s accomplishments before they started dating. The last two years of Jeter’s baseball career were the first two years of their dating. However, after two years of dating the 5x World Series Champion, she continued, “I knew how much it meant to me. But for the first time, I think I could also fully sense how much it meant to everyone else: the culmination of this 20-year career, this 20-year journey that they had all been on together.” She further continued, “This atmosphere that I had gotten so swept up in — for a lot of people, baseball is like that every night. Yankees fans had had two whole decades worth of nights like this. They grew up with Derek Jeter, and he grew up with them. And I don’t think I’d understood that before.”

Jeter and Hannah have been a lively couple and parents of four children, including three girls. However, the model once said she didn’t even know Jeter before they started dating.

Hannah was Unaware of Derek’s Baseball Stardom

In this same interview, Hannah once claimed that she didn’t know the MLB icon beforehand. Originally belonging to Virginia Island, where baseball was not popular, the model was not aware of the New York Yankees. She said, “Don’t get me wrong: I’d been living in the city for a couple of years — and I know I saw Yankees hats and probably a Jeter jersey or two (or 100), but they didn’t register.” 

However, in 2012, they met through a common friend and started dating that very year and got married in 2016. Now, with a son and three daughters, the Jeter family is complete.
