Reflexes are an integral part of any sport, baseball included. It plays a massive part while either batting or fielding. If a player is not alert or fast with their reflexes, it could be dangerous. Most recently, the Los Angeles Angels two-way phenom Shohei Ohtani avoided a close call while playing against the Oakland Athletics.?

Notably, Ohtani has been in great form this season, showing his elite two-way play once again. His pitching has been particularly impressive, regularly shutting down opposing batters. But during his most recent outing, Ohtani had the chance to show off his remarkable reflexes.

Shohei Ohtani narrowly avoids a pitch to the head

Baseball is a danger-filled sport, and players can get injured at any time. Most recently, Angels’ star Shohei Ohtani narrowly escaped a pitch to the head with his fast reflexes. During the Angels’ most recent game against the Oakland Athletics, Ohtani was batting in the first inning when this happened. Athletics’ pitcher Ken Waldichuk threw a changeup that the Japanese star narrowly avoided. Ohtani shouted as the pitch nearly hit him and jogged away from home plate after swerving to avoid it. Anaheim Sports shared a video of the incident on Twitter.

In a Tweet, they said, ?Look Out Sho! ? Shohei Ohtani dodges a very close pitch? in the 1st inning against the Oakland Athletics at Angel Stadium. Sho is fine and continued with the at bat. ??. This was a truly stunning display of reflexes from the two-way phenom.?

But despite his quick reflexes and bravery during the incident, the Angels lost the game 11-10. This was a huge loss for the Angels as they succumb to one of the worst teams in MLB. This was not the first time that Ohtani faced a dangerous incident and came out unscathed.

Ohtani was in a dangerous collision last year

During a game against the Seattle Mariners in August last year, Shohei Ohtani was involved in a dangerous collision with pitcher Marco Gonzales. The Mariners’ pitcher was backing away behind home plate as a pitch came in for a relay, but he collided with Ohtani. There was some concern for the Angels’ star as he looked to be in some discomfort. Team trainers came onto the field to check on Ohtani, who was lucky to avoid a serious injury.
