Many icons have suited up for the New York Yankees over the past few decades. One of them is none other than the iconic closer Mariano Rivera. Despite being a reliever, Rivera had a career so astounding that his name is taken among the all-time Yankees greats. Notably, while playing for the Pinstripes, the retired legend won almost everything as a baseball player. Most recently, Rivera looked back on his playing days with a nostalgic post of one of his milestone moments.

The former Yankees closer had an iconic career, and he will be remembered for his clutch pitching, both in the regular season and playoffs. Furthermore, his legendary entrance song “Enter Sandman” will forever be remembered. But here, the pitching great looks back on an early milestone.

Mariano Rivera looks back on his MLB career as the 28th anniversary of his debut passes by. He started as a promising prospect and turned out to be a legendary closing pitcher. He leads the MLB in several statistics aimed at relief pitchers and closers. Rivera shared a post on Instagram, remembering his MLB debut on its 28th anniversary. ‘Sandman‘ said that he remembers the moment vividly and urged others to live their dreams. 

In the Instagram Post, he said, “I remember my first game like it was yesterday! Never give up on your dreams!” His debut was the birth of one of the Yankees’ best pitchers. Furthermore, he will go down as one of baseball’s best closers ever, if not the best.

Rivera helped the Yankees win many games with his clutch pitching. Although his regular-season pitching was top-notch, he came alive during the postseason. ‘Sandman’ helped the Bronx Bombers win 5 World Series championships during his career. For all of these achievements and accolades, Rivera became the first unanimous Hall of Fame selection and now has stadiums built in his honor. Even after retiring, the legendary closer remains in touch with the game.

Rivera does not like the pitch clock

Since retiring, Mariano Rivera has very much stayed in touch with the game of baseball. He even offered his opinion on the pitch clock and he does not like it. The Yankees legend believes that it removes players’ chance to learn and grow. Furthermore, Rivera believes that the pitch clock limits creativity in pitchers. The new rule got a truly negative response from the iconic closing pitcher.
