It has been a disappointing season for the New York Yankees. They have failed to do well enough and are languishing in the race for playoffs. A reason for it has been the injuries and suspensions, coupled with inconsistency on both the offensive and the defensive fronts. But amidst all this, one player has shined, marking a great beginning of his MLB career. Anthony Volpe,, the player in question, has made significant contributions to the team’s success, a fact clearly evident in his victories against other players throughout the season in the league.

Given the first season, it is always tough for the players to do well. But the shortstop has fulfilled his role on the plate and the outfield. With that, the 22-year-old has found a place in the Yankees clubhouse. He has also surpassed the likes of Carlos Correa, Francisco Lindor, and Jeremy Pena, putting himself in front of over $1.3 billion valued stars.

Not Even a Million, Anthony Volpe Leaves Billion Behind

It has been a great season for the Anthony Volpe. Although the young star signed for the Yankees on a $720k contract, his contribution has been better than the players who are earning millions this season. Although he will look to add more to his statistics in the future given his first season, the chicken parm participant has done well.

In the season so far, he has recorded an average of 0.211, with 21 HRs and 61 HRs. With this, he has left behind the likes of Dansby Swanson, Carlos Correa, and others on the home run charts. Not only this, Volpe has been a star in the outfield too. According to cbssports, he has played maximum innings as a shortstop and leads the DRS charts above Francisco Lindor, Jeremy Pena, and others.

Given that all these players have a contract value of approximately $1.3 billion, his inclusion and better statistics put him in a different league. Because of it, he has all the attention, but it is not wrong. Notably, former Yankee captain Derek Jeter, one of the best shortstops, also signaled this with his praise for Volpe. The same was true when Jeter reflected on his latest catch on the Old Timers’ Day.
