Derek Jeter has always been comfortable sharing the spotlight with other people. Throughout his 20-year MLB career, he was happy to allow other stars to have the spotlight. The only thing Jeter was concerned with was winning. The legendary shortstop won 5 World Series titles with the New York Yankees. But he was not always at the center of attention.
Jeter would graciously let others shine as he played his role. This happened in 2020 as well, when the Yankee legend helped shine a spotlight on a front-line worker. He did so by offering them special thanks, even bringing them to tears of joy with his words.

True heroes are people like you on the front lines. What you do every day, you know, risking your personal health and the health of those you love the most for the good of others is something that is pretty remarkable.” Dr. Leber was stunned but thanked Jeter for inspiring generations of athletes through his conduct as a baseball star.
