All it takes is a second for things to unravel. While the Los Angeles Dodgers are everywhere, their names attached to most major free agents, things may change quickly. Signs of this have already started showing themselves, with the Blue Crew seemingly falling behind in their Yoshinobu Yamamoto pursuit. At the same time, their fellow Californians are also making the Dodgers’ offseason difficult by going after Blake Snell.
Even though some reports say that the Dodgers aren’t interested in the former Padres player, their need for good pitching is dire. And a failure to get Yamamoto can make the 2x Cy Young award winner suddenly look like an alluring option. Yet here the Dodgers are, so close to the summit yet far enough that they can miss it.
Angels’ interest in Blake Snell rings alarm bells for Los Angeles Dodgers

The Los Angeles Dodgers have a lot to worry about—a surprising statement for a team that just signed Shohei Ohtani. But the Blue Crew aren’t a perfect team yet, because Ohtani won’t pitch until 2025. Tyler Glasnow will undoubtedly strengthen the bullpen but a good roster never hurt. The Dodgers want Yoshinobu Yamamoto, but that desire has made them neglectful. With the Angels meeting Blake Snell, one of the biggest pitchers might just be leaving the market soon.

Of note: Since the Angels aren't viewed as a strong candidate to sign Yamamoto, they don't need to wait on Yamamoto's choice to act in the pitching market. @MLB @MLBNetwork

As Jon Morosi posted on X, the Angels recently talked with Snell. Teams that aren’t in on Yamamoto like the Halos, are free to focus on other targets. That’s a luxury that the Dodgers can’t afford because of their Japanese dreams. But even that could be turning into a nightmare.
With Yoshinobu Yamamoto meeting the New York Yankees and New York Mets twice, things look more upbeat on the East Coast. Though there have been reports that the Dodgers have offered $250-$300 million to Yamamoto, is it really enough?

The dilemma of the Blue Crew
A link with Milwaukee Brewers’ Corbin Burnes has recently emerged but he has only one year left under team control. It’s a dilemma that the Dodgers will have to face – do they want to create a long-lasting winning team or are they willing to make it work with temporary connections?
Other than Burnes, the only player that remains as an option is the Samurai Japan ace Shota Imanaga. The player has been a fallback option but with the Yamamoto sweepstakes stretching so long, there is a risk of Imanaga going elsewhere as well.

Ultimately, things look a bit blue for the Dodgers, who must solve their bullpen issues.
