Triston Casas might have just talked himself into trouble. While backing Rafael Devers at third base seems harmless enough, his comments about the Red Sox’s top prospects—Roman Anthony, Marcelo Mayer, and Kristian Campbell—aren’t sitting well with everyone. According to MLB insider Jared Carrabis, those remarks could put Casas’ future in Boston in jeopardy. Is that really the case?

While rumors about the Big Three slated to be on the Opening Day roster are in the air, Casas stood up against it. That’s quite a bad call, isn’t it? Well, his remarks didn’t go quite well with many, as Casas’ loyalty towards his teammates may not be enough to maintain his spot in the club.

Trouble for the Red Sox’s first baseman mounts, as Triston Casas has been against the Big Three making it on the opening day roster. As pointed out by MLB insider Jared Carrabis on Baseball is Dead on February 20, “If he wants to say, yeah, Devers is my third baseman, Bregman can play second, it’s like, you shouldn’t say that publicly, but if you feel that way, that’s fine, but who are you to say that like Christian Campbell shouldn’t make the roster? Like, that’s crazy.

Carrabis went on to say that leaving out Christian Campbell just doesn’t seem right, given that he had an impressive 2024 MiLB stats—430 AB and .330 average. However, Casas thinks just the opposite, as he believes that the big three prospects need to prove themselves in the minors, and as they have some experienced players in the lineup, it’s too early to give them the opportunity in the opening day. Sounds fair?

Well, maybe not, given that Casas made this statement publicly, which isn’t something good, and that fetched him a warning as well. But there’s something more that lands him in much bigger trouble. What’s that?

Triston Casas lands himself in a much bigger problem again

Problems don’t seem to just end for Triston Casas, as he made another remark on Rafael Devers playing third base and Bregman at second base. While it sounds quite fair for him to support his teammate, Rafael Devers, denying Bregman that place and commenting on him to move to second base has garnered criticism, putting him in a state that he never thought of, maybe?

Well, that’s true, because Casas made this statement publicly, which shouldn’t be done. More importantly, Alex Bregman confirmed that he would like to play anywhere, considering what should be the best according to the team’s interests. While it might be a good combination, in case they do not play well, then not only the defensive alignment that Casas sought might be in question, but also fingers will be pointed out at him for speaking that openly.

While the internal turmoil continues with Triston Casas commenting on something that he wouldn’t have made, the emergence of Toronto Blue Jays’ Vladimir Guerrero Jr. has injected a new layer of complexity into the team. Although there’s no official confirmation yet, Guerrero Jr.’s interest in joining the Red Sox is nothing new, as it increases the speculations surrounding him. However, with this comes a wide array of challenges as well as opportunities. So, will the Red Sox get him?
