Even though Albert Pujols is playing his last MLB season, the St. Louis Cardinals legend is still going strong. With 21 home runs already as a 42-year-old hitter, Pujols is in no mood to slow down.

Earlier on Tuesday, the Cardinals clinched the National League Central with a win over the Milwaukee Brewers in American Family Field. But Pujols is not done yet. The Cardinals legend, who recently smashed his 700th home run, is eyeing a championship in his last professional year.

With veterans like Albert Pujols, Yadier Molina, and Paul Goldschmidt by their side, the Cardinals are proving to be a dark horse for the World Series title. And after clinching their postseason berth and the NL Central, Pujols’ moving words might give some motivation to the Cardinals for the coveted championship.

“I mean, what an honor! …To come back here and just finish my career being in the playoffs, I mean this is one step guys… Just remember this moment. This is what we want to do deeper in October and hopefully win the championship… So enjoy it! Enjoy the night. We deserve open down you know long season,” Albert Pujols said.

The Cardinals legend said that winning the division is not enough. He asked his teammates to be strong enough and fight for the World Series title.

“And this is just one strong step. I mean, there is no better sacrifice than winning that championship. Just stay focused on that. We have one week left to the season. Just stay focused, finish strong, and then there goes the playoffs…” Pujols added.

Can the Cardinals overcome the Dodgers, Mets, and Braves to play the World Series?

Nothing is impossible in sports. And given the Cardinals are doing extremely good this year, they might also go on to win the championship. However, in the presence of the Dodgers, NY Mets, and the defending champions Atlanta Braves, Albert Pujols and co. have almost an incomprehensible task ahead.
