The 2023 baseball season has been an exciting roller coaster for fans. In the presence of captain Aaron Judge, the New York Yankees had fantastic performances but have lately struggled offensively without him. Meanwhile, the Oakland Athletics have been dealing with unending troubles, from relocation to attendance crises. However, what unfolded when these two teams clashed last night?

The A’s won the first game of the series, which came as a shock to many. But the Bronx Bombers brought their A-game to the second night, setting a new franchise record.

The first perfect game in the Pinstripes’ history was the 1956 World Series game by Don Larsen. Then, David Wells achieved the feat in 1998, followed by David Cone in 1999. Despite facing ejection and suspension for violating MLB’s sticky substance policy, the Yankees pitcher became the fourth player in team history to achieve this feat and the first since Cone.

It wasn’t as if the Yankees were performing poorly on the offense, for once, but the formerly suspended pitcher gave it his best, anyway. The stunning display came after two awful starts against the Boston Red Sox and Seattle Mariners, astonishing fans with the 11-0 win. Furthermore, in the decades of MLB’s existence, it was only the 24th perfect game in league history.

“To accomplish something like this in my career, you know, it’s something that I am going to remember forever, be part of history, so exciting,” German said through an interpreter. Oakland’s Coliseum was full of cheering Yankee fans, even though some were surprised by this turn of events.

MLB Twitter is amazed at where this season is going

2023 has been one startling revelation after another. Baseball fans have gone home disappointed after watching good teams underperform and unpredictable winners emerge.

In the fifth inning, the Athletics’ Seth Brown hit a 106.5 mph ground ball that could have thrown off German’s game. However, Anthony Rizzo saved the day by diving to the left, snatching the ball, and throwing it back to German at first base.

MLB fans don’t understand the direction this season is going because it seems like anything could happen at any time.

One fan wants this moment to be the catalyst that turns the season around for the Yankees, who probably won’t see their captain for a long while yet.

One fan pointed out how this was the first perfect game outside of the Bronx for the Yankees.
