Now that Opening Day 23 is right around the corner, MLB teams are in a haste to finalize their 26-man roster. As players attain their place in the dugout for the team, some players have been left behind. The Milwaukee Brewers are leaving no stone unturned when it comes to deciding who will stand out under the stadium lights for them. 

A piece of news has been making rounds that the Brew Crew has signed Luke Voit to a one-year major league contract while designating Keston Hiura for assignment. Voit, who opted out of his minor league contract with the team, was brought back right near the brink of the deadline for MLB’s regular season lineup changes. He will be playing alongside Rowdy Tellez at first base and slugger Jesse Winker. Most fans are happy with the development and have taken to Twitter to lay out their opinions.

Luke Voit began his baseball journey with St. Louis Cardinals, moving on to a 4-season stint with the New York Yankees. In 2022, Voit was a part of the Sand Diego Padres, later the Washington Nationals.

The 32-year-old was then traded to the Milwaukee Brewers as a minor leaguer in 2023. After opting out of his minor league contract and becoming a free agent, the first baseman was brought back as a major leaguer. And the fans couldn’t be happier. 

Not every fan is talking about Voit. Keston Huira had been a promising candidate for the team, however, his play decline had been rapid on the field. Although some fans still believe that Huira still has the potential to become great and are befuddled at his DFA news.

Now, with the last-minute changes, it seems like the Brewers are ready to brew a firestorm in the upcoming season! 

Looks like the Milwaukee Brewers made the right decision with their baseman! 

Once a phenomenal player for the New York Yankees, Luke Voit, with a career batting average of .254 has amassed an impressive 95 home runs and 272 RBIs in six seasons. Last year alone, he sent in 22 home runs flying and drove in 69 runs for both the Padres and the Nationals.

Surprisingly, the slugger hit the open market but wasn’t there for long before he made his quick return to the Milwaukee Brewers. With just 24 hours in the market, the team wasted no time in signing him back. During the 15 Spring Training games with Milwaukee, he has shown that he hasn’t lost his touch, batting .300 with two homers and four RBIs in only 40 at-bats. It looks like the team made a smart move with his re-signing!
