While all the eyes are on Aaron Judge’s eventual contract, the New York Yankees front office pulls an unpopular move that leaves New Yorkers in dismay with their management once again. While all their fans awaited the news of the big Aaron Judge signing, the front office disappointed their fans by signing an extension with their 27-year-old shortstop.

As reported by Jeff Passan, the New York Yankees offered a one-year extension to their shortstop, Isiah Kiner-Falefa, for $6 million. Growing up, IKF always dreamt of playing the Pinstripes. While that dream drifted slightly away before the start of 2022, things found a way to fall into place and the shortstop arrived at the Bronx.
New Yorkers aren’t happy with this bold front-office decision
One year after arriving in the Bronx, numerous fans would say that the shortstop hasn’t done justice to the role he desperately wanted. Moreover, filling Derek Jeter’s shoes isn’t easy either.

Analogous to that, 2022 was a broken season for IKF, who managed only four home runs and 48 runs batted in out of his 483 at-bats.
Consequently, the news of this signing didn’t fancy New Yorkers, and they lashed out at the front office after the announcement. This is how fans reacted to the news of the shortstops signing:

My prediction is this team will be the same exact team almost that stunk down the stretch and In the playoffs last year. It’s good enough to secure a playoff spot and that seems to be all that matters in Yankee land these days. Just being competitive and making $$.

One of their better hitters in the playoffs, and can be used off the bench for contact/pinch running/defense all over the inf (minus c&1B

Now, IKF has a brand new chance to prove his abilities in the Pinstripes.
A loud call for a New York Yankees front-office change
While the New York Yankees ended up reaching the American League Championship Series, 2022 was a topsy-turvy year for them. The year started with them becoming the fastest team in the American League, with 70 victories. August, however, proved to deliver a reality check to the Pinstripes, after they lost six consecutive series and witnessed their worst calendar month in over a decade. The start of the season surge pushed them to a comfortable spot and the regular season concluded with the Yanks on top of the AL East.
In the Division Series, the Yanks took on the Cleveland Guardians who fought till the very end and took the series to a fifth-game decider. While the Yanks managed past them, the ALCS was a one-sided encounter as the Astros swept them away in the first four games.
