The New York Yankees are rejoicing over their victory against the Pittsburgh Pirates last night. The Bronx Bombers demolished the other team at 9-2 in their latest Grapefruit League game and fans got to see some special moments. Namely from one player in particular, and that is Aaron Judge, AKA the newest leader of the Pinstripes, the sixteenth captain in franchise history.

Judge is coming off of an eventful off-season, and that’s only after breaking Roger Maris’ AL single-season home run record. 2022 meant free agency but the 30-year-old braved it and came back to where he really belonged – the Yankees. After a whopping nine-year, $360 million contract, Bronx fans are ready to see some amazing games from Judge. And if this recent play is anything to go by, he’s headed in the right direction.

It was Yankees vs Pirates in the George M. Steinbrenner Field on Monday. And against Colin Selby of the Pirates, Judge blasted off his first Grapefruit League homer across the field, and the fan who caught it seemed delighted. It allowed Judge a three-run inning, with the total tallying up to six with Jose Trevino and DJ LeMahieu.

Yankees fans took to Twitter to hail the reigning AL Most Valuable Player.

While most people were ecstatic about the moment, some reminisced over the time ‘The Captain’ used to refer to Derek Jeter. Oh, how times have changed!

All-Rise is trying out a new position on the field soon

Yankees manager Aaron Boone announced recently that Judge will cover left field on Wednesday, Yankees vs Cardinals. The move will give Giancarlo Stanton a chance to slide in at right, something Judge suggested himself. “I just want him to have a couple of days being out there and a couple of games, just to get a handful of reps and balls off the bat,” Boone told MLB.com. “Then we’ll take stock of where we’re at on that, and move on from there.”

Regarding the home run, Boone told Bryan Hoch, “It was a good at-bat. We had a lot of good at-bats tonight, but it was good to see him hit one like he does over there to right.”
