The Atlanta Braves have had some serious ups and downs this season so far. With talented players giving solid performances, they have also been facing injuries. Ronald Acuna Jr. briefly served time on the IL, and later pitcher Kyle Wright stayed out because of shoulder soreness. Now, it seems like yet another ace is joining him.

After their first victory against the Boston Red Sox, the Braves lost in the second game of the series. Not only that but Red Sox pitcher Kenley Jansen made history at Atlanta’s Truist Park. But things are not looking good for the Braves’ own starting pitcher, Max Fried.

The Atlanta Braves put Max Fried on the 15-day injured list

Fried, who already missed two weeks in April because of a hamstring injury right on Opening Day, is going to be on the IL again. The 29-year-old has been suffering some forearm tightness and is expected to return in two months’ time, his team announced. Since injuries never have a set timetable for recovery because everybody is different, Fried said, “Now it’s just about letting the muscle heal and rest.”

The pitcher made some throwing errors while also allowing five earned runs in six-plus innings in the Braves recent game against the Baltimore Orioles. Fried mentioned how this pain felt different from usual soreness, and team manager Brian Snitker called the diagnosis, “the best possible outcome, possibly. You [hate] to lose him, obviously.”

Injuries are an unavoidable part of an athlete’s life, but that doesn’t mean fans are happy.

Baseball fans are sending good wishes to Fried

The starter missed the game against the Red Sox on Wednesday because of his injury. For now, the team is still leading the division but fans are worried about them since Wright is missing in action as well.

Some are worried that the team will not be able to keep up their lead.

Some fans sympathized with him.

One fan referenced Fried’s strong performance against the Houston Astros, which has been a trend with him.

Some echoed their confusion as to why Fried was on the 15-day list when recovery time is expected to be two months.

The Braves’ early lead might help if things go south later on. It’s certainly a more desirable position than where they were last year at this time, as Snitker said.
