The moment of truth has finally come! Keeping the Cubs and Astros behind, the Red Sox landed Alex Bregman. Yes, the team no one considered to be a contender for Bregman anymore, came and conquered and how. They have offered a deal, which not only proves the value of Alex Bregman but also the worth of Scott Boras. However, getting Bregman is a redemption for the Red Sox’s chief baseball head Craig Breslow considering how they fared poorly last year.

Enough discussion was done all these days asking Bregman to get flexible with the suitors and Boras to not ask outrageous amounts but all fell short in front of the Red Sox. Well, now that Bregman has a team, how is the Red Sox expected to perform this year? How do they go ahead of other contenders in getting Bregman? The entire balance of power got titled towards the Red Sox now and the playoff is visible now for them.

The Red Sox had the last laugh with Bregman

The Astros and Cubs were the frontrunners in getting Bregman last one day ago and now it’s the Red Sox standing tall! How’s that made possible? The Red Sox reportedly offered a 3-year deal worth $120 million, which comes at $40 million AAV! Moreover, this deal comes with an opt-out option after each season and what more can be asked by Bregman? Now that Bregman is picked, the Red Sox is the top contender for the playoff this year, considering how the Yankees are still gasping from the loss of Juan Soto.

This changes the American League East because the Boston Red Sox now have a legitimate lineup to threaten that of the New York Yankees”, said MLB insider Jon Morosi with MLB Network. The Yankees were the top contender until now and already coming with a 7-6 record against the Red Sox but now the latter’s bases with Rafael Devers and Bregman are a direct threat to their thrown. Craig Breslow is surely hoping to leave past their third position at AL East last year and make a wave this time. So what will be the team lineup for the Red Sox including Bregman that can create a ripple effect in the league?

Exciting time ahead

It’s going to be an exciting time both for the Red Sox and Alex Bregman ahead. Reportedly, their skipper Alex Cora was lobbying for Bregman but their inability to offer a 3B position was a hurdle. Now that Bregman agreed to play at 2B leaving 3B for Devers, Cora has all the reason to smile. With Bregman, the possible lineup will be Triston Casas at 1B followed by Bregman and Devers. Seems like the scorer at the park would have to work hard this time!

What’s your perspective on:

Can Bregman and Devers lead the Red Sox to dethrone the Yankees this season?

Have an interesting take?

The Red Sox although ended this offseason with a bang opened a few more opportunities for others. Players like Nolan Arenado got a new leash of life from the teams who were waiting for Alex Bregman. Well, for the Red Sox, it’s now to watch how Bregman is excelling at 2B because his excellence will determine the playoff hope for the team and fans. It will also be a challenge for the team to retain Bregman considering he has the opt-out option after each season. One good performance and he can opt for free agency. Till then, it’s the Red Sox all over.

The Red Sox proved that it’s better late than never! They have created an example of how to make the sweepstakes and now all eyes will be on their on-field performance.
