The MLB postseason is getting highly competitive as teams keep fighting for the World Series. In the major leagues, stats speak for the players, and fans often compare players based on their stats. As the Philadelphia Phillies advance in the playoffs, a contentious comparison arises between two MLB stars. Since his return, Bryce Harper seems unbeatable this season. In the postseason, his valor is only heightened. This ultimately brought a strong comparison between him and a renowned ‘local boy’ from Philadelphia.
After 2022, the Phillies are once again on their track to fight for the World Series. With their ALCS Game 2 win, this probability is getting stronger. However, this further draws attention to another player’s stats, who is long connected to Harper.

Bryce Harper and Mike Trout have been connected for more than a decade. That’s because of the hype they drew as prospects. However, again, the 2023 season has brought them to the limelight, but this time Trout is getting into the negative side of it. As Harper’s endeavor progresses, fans have been trying to compare these two players based on their stats.
I know there aren?t people on my timeline saying Bryce Harper is better than Mike Trout ??????
That?s gotta be the most casual take I?ve ever heard in my life man please learn ball brother pic.twitter.com/3ATFuwmQbk

The main reason behind this comparison can be Trout’s native land in Philadelphia. Belonged to the Phillies hometown, the 32-year-old star selected the Los Angeles Angels to begin his MLB career. Though the Angels star has personal achievements queued up, he failed to lead his team to the playoffs.
It’s almost a decade since the team last time made it to the playoffs. In comparison, after Harper joined the Phillies, the team made it to the Playoffs for two back-to-back seasons. Also, this year Harper is having his dream season of leading his team toward the World Series. So, the MLB enthusiasts are drawing their career stats to vote who’s better.
While almost all are going against Trout, a renowned reporter, Rob Parker, joined this controversy. He compared Trout with Ted Williams. According to him, “Mike Trout is going to be one of being a modern-day Ted Williams.” To support his statement, he further explained, “Ted Williams was a great player, and nobody would deny that. But we never got to see him play in the postseason with the Red Sox…”?
However, the interview session has a stat list of both players, which demonstrates the games and average stats of them from 2020. While Harper played 134 games more than Trout, the latter has only 1.2 WAR less than him. However, fans are not ready to consider these points. They have jumped to criticizing Trout.
Mike Trout draws mixed reactions from fans
Baseball is a team game where one player can’t be blamed for the failure. But fans are not ready to consider any points as they want Trout leading his team to the postseason like Harper. They started doubting the Angels’ star’s potential.

Another one took it further with his comparison.
It?s funny that Bryce Harper used to get so much flack for not being Mike Trout. But one of them is always in the playoffs and always hitting big home runs.

A fan said, “Harper’s peak can’t match Trout’s statistically”
The fun thing about Bryce Harper vs. Mike Trout debates at this point is that they’re unfair to both players. Harper’s peak can’t match Trout’s statistically, but almost no one’s can. Trout can’t come close to Harper for big moments, but it’s not his fault his teams have sucked.

Even “MLB Now” brought up the comparison.
