MLB legend Derek Jeter dreamt of being a Yankee as a kid. As he grew up, he worked hard more than many and fulfilled his dream. After making his MLB debut in 1995, Captain Clutch never stopped growing. And he became one of the best ever to step foot on the diamond. While doing so, Jeter got named an All-Star 14 times and won 5 World Series. But unlike many other athletes, Derek didn’t have a wife and kids to celebrate his achievements with. 

Although Jeter did have a lengthy list of women, he dated throughout his storied baseball career; he didn’t find the one he wanted to settle with until he met his now-wife, Hannah Jeter. And in the last few years of his historic baseball career, Jeter became a part of HBO’s documentary about him, Derek Jeter 3K, after having 3000 hits in his career as a New York Yankees player. Shortly after the release of 3K, Jeter revealed the real reason he made that documentary with HBO. 

What did Derek Jeter say about making his documentary?

When Jeter participated in his HBO documentary in 2011, he still hadn’t met his now wife, Hannah Jeter (formerly Davis). But that does not mean that he didn’t want to have a family of his own. Hence, while giving an interview about his documentary showing his journey to reach the milestone of 3000 hits, Jeter also revealed the actual reason behind being a part of it.

While in the interview about HBO’s legends and legacies, Derek said, “I was approached about the opportunity to do this documentary. And it’s not that I’ve done this before, and I don’t know if I’m comfortable with it. But I’m always jealous of other players when their kids come down and in the clubhouse and on the field. If and when I have kids, they won’t be a part of this experience. They won’t ever have the opportunity to see it, so at least I’ll have it for my kids because they may not believe me when I tell them.” 

However, little did Captain Clutch know that within a year of this documentary getting released, he’d met the woman he’d marry and have kids with. And now, Jeter has a lot to show his daughters regarding his incredible baseball career. But he still wants them to grow up away from the prying eyes of the media. And to have a chance at a normal life as much as possible. 

For his daughters, Captain Clutch is only their father!

Since Derek and Hannah both are determined to give their girls as normal a life as possible, they also live a private life. Jeter has talked before that the girls know parts about his career. But he still wants them to look at him only as their father and not as a baseball legend. Jeter’s daughters, Bella, River, and Story, all got the taste of the charm their father spread when they went to the Yankee Stadium together. Although, even then, his daughters cared about the promised ice cream to them and nothing else.

Seems like Derek and Hannah are doing a great job keeping their girls away from Jeter’s charm in the Big Apple.
